This weekend I am hosting a Connected Riding clinic with my very dear friend Peggy Cummings, for 9 horses and riders. I am really looking forward to immersing myself in all things horse. The rest of the world melts away as you are totally in the moment with your 4 legged friend.
Peggy has developed her own method of teaching horses and riders which centres around the concept of being in neutral pelvis, which is basically having your body in alignment as shown in the picture on the left.
I first met Peggy back in 2004 just before I moved to Somerset. I had no idea back then that all these years later I would be using her teachings of neutral pelvis, to allow use of the body in a functional way, as part of my business.
As part of a Bowen treatment with Balance with Bowen I carry out a postural assessment. A large portion of the population stand with their knees locked back, the pelvis tucked under, the shoulders out behind and the head forward, to some varying degree. The picture on the right shows this.
This kind of posture will eventually cause pain somewhere in the body, so it is important after having the pain taken care of that you know how to stand in an aligned and functional way to remain pain free.
So thank you Peggy Cummings for so many things but particularly for teaching me about neutral pelvis. This concept gives me a way of putting control back into my clients hands.
Please contact me at Balance with Bowen based In Shepton Mallet, Somerset to find out more about neutral pelvis and to discuss how a Bowen treatment can help you with your aches and pains; whether they are running induced or not.
